    Debating Same-Sex Marriage and Other Ways to Stay Irrelevant
    The Conservative Party is getting ready to debate same-sex marriage more than a decade after it became law. BC's Premier is getting rich off party funds. An economist on why Newfounland and Labrador are shutting down more than half their libraries. Desmond says goodbye.

    The Conservative Party may finally decide to embrace gay marriage at a policy convention next month. Or maybe not. More than a decade after same-sex marriage was legalised in Canada, the CPC still defines it as a union between one man and one woman.

    BC’s Premier is under attack for conflict-of-interest, relating to over $300,000 in salary top-ups and a bunch of expensive fundraisers. The Tyee’s legislative bureau chief Andrew MacLeod fills us in on the details.

    Newfoundland and Labrador’s budget situation has gotten so bad that the province is shutting down more than half of their libraries. Memorial University economist Alison Coffin (who also ran for the NDP in the last election) talks about what got the province to where it is today.
